Investigation Log – V. Grant, Day 4
After speaking with Tobias Klein, I find myself with more questions than answers. He presents as a decent man, open, even helpful, yet something does not sit quite right.
Of all those in the village, he appears to benefit the most from the aftermath. Repairs, replacements, new work where there was once none. The fire, in a way, has become his opportunity.
I want to take him at his word. It would be easier.
But ease has no place in a case like this.
Could it be that he is merely fortunate… or is he connected to something larger? Not the architect, perhaps, but a willing participant?
Too many threads now point elsewhere for me to ignore. The brewery, untouched by the fire, continues to surface in quiet ways. I will visit Mr. Kowalski next.
